Here are the drop dead gorgeous Kenyan beauties who are loved not just
for their staggering sporting achievements but also for their stunning
looks:
1. Mercy Cherono (Athletics) – She hails from Kipajit village in
Sotik, Bomet County. The Commonwealth Games 5,000m champion attributes
her beauty to regular exercise and a healthy diet.
“I train every day, running 20 kilometers and I also eat healthy as part
of my routine for maintaining beauty,” she once told Daily Nation.
Cherono also loves fish and takes lots of fruits and vegetables but avoids fatty foods.
“My must have products are foundation, powder, eye pencil and lip balm. I
do not however wear them when training on the track,” she says.
When not clad in sports gear, Cherono prefers African attire from designers who custom-make outfits that accentuate her looks.
2. Janet Wanja (Volleyball) – The former student of Mukumu Girls
High School is one of the most recognizable volleyball players in Kenya.
Her achievements in sports makes her more endearing to her fans. Wanja
is also the elder sister to Tusker FC’s Kevin Kimani who was voted the
best player in the Kenyan Premier League in 2011. The Kenya Pipeline
setter is married to Andrew Sayer.
3. Sylvia Tanya Atieno Brunlehner (Swimming) – Born in 1994
Sylvia Atieno has represented Kenya at several competitions. Although
she holds a German passport, she continues to hold most Kenyan records
in the freestyle, backstroke and butterfly sprints. Her main events are
50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly.
4. Brackides Agala (Volleyball) – The national women volleyball
team captain currently plays for French top flight side Chamalières. Her
local club is Kenya Prisons and she has also had stints in Japan and
Greece. Early this year, a video of Agala leading her teammates in a jig
after winning the African Cup of Nations went viral on social media.
5. Josephine Achieng Owino (Basketball) – Born in Mombasa,
the former Mombasa High School student made history by becoming the
first Kenyan professional basketball player to ever play in WNBA, when
she joined Washington Mystics in 2009. Owino was Commercial Bank and
Kenya Ports Authority in the Kenyan league, before moving to the US.
6. Naomi Wafula (Golf) – Barely 17 years old, the form three
student at Makini School is the hottest and most talented female Kenyan
golfer. Among her numerous awards are the 2011 SOYA Award trophy, the
All Africa Challenge (Junior) Trophy (AACT) that she won in Botswana in
2012, and the 2013 JGF (Junior Golf Foundation) Top Girl of the Year
