A number of public figures have died in a span of 5 years and the cause
of their deaths still remains a mystery or a well guarded secret.
The public is always interested to know what caused the death of news makers whenever death comes knocking.
But the deaths of some public figures have still remained a mystery
years after they passed on. We illuminate 5 trendsetters whose deaths
were shrouded in controversies.
1. George Saitoti
Kenya’s longest serving Vice President died in a helicopter crash in
Ngong forest while flying to South Nyanza for a fundraiser in June 2012.
While it seems obvious the cause of death was from the accident, KTN’s
Mohammed Ali told Kenyans in his investigative that there was foul play
in Saitoti’s death.
Moha’s claims were seconded by a medical report; Dr Dorothy Njeru told
the Justice Kalpana Rawal commission investigating Saitoti’s accident
that the former Internal Security Minister died before the chopper he
was in crashed.
2. Otieno Kajwang
He was in perfect condition hours to his death on November 18th 2014;
that’s why ODM demanded quick investigations into the death of Otieno
Kajwang once news broke he had passed on.
Kajwang died at Mater Hospital after he was rushed there complaining of
chest pains. Government pathologist Dr. Johansen Odour confirmed the
late Homa Bay senator died of heart attack though the medical report
didn’t convince many.
Conspiracy theorists came up with explanations which I will not go into details for the sake of national cohesion.
3. George Thuo
The former Juja MP collapsed and died while drinking with friends at Porkies Pub in Thika on 17th November 2013.
Medical reports indicated that Thuo died from consuming a highly toxic chemical believed to have been mixed with his drink.
Six suspects including Thuo’s friends were put on trial for the murder
of the former Juja legislator. The motive behind his murder has not been
established though hearsay has its own funny explanations
Saitoti was to expose names of drug lords in parliament prior to his death, powerful forces in Kenya were linked to his death.4. Fidel Odinga
His death was the most talked about topic in 2015. Fidel was found dead
in his house at Windy Ridge, Karen after a night-out with friends.
The cause of his death has not been made public though some suggested it
was alcohol poisoning while Boniface Mwangi said Fidel died of drug
overdose.
5. Lucy Kibaki
The former First Lady passed on today at a London hospital after she was transferred from Nairobi Hospital a few days ago.
Doctors at Nairobi hospital referred journalists to her family for
queries when they demanded to know what the former first lady was being
treated for.
Her transfer to London hospital and even the cause of her death have
remained a well guarded secret that only her families know about.
Rumor had it that Lucy had mental problems and had even been admitted at
a mental facility but these claims just remain rumors as they can’t be
substantiated.
