Here are things we will remember about Mama Lucy:
1. She was the most vocal and prominent one among the first ladies and often accompanied Kibaki to many of his events. Before her tenure, first ladies were rarely heard of as Moi did not step out with his better half.
2. She will be remembered for her contribution to the health sector which includes the Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital and her fight against the HIV/AIDS scourge .During her tenure; Lucy chaired the Organization of African First Ladies against HIV/AIDS (OAFLA), an organization that acts as a voice and caters for the needs of women, children and vulnerable people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS

3. She will be remembered as the first, Kenyan First Lady to storm into the offices of a daily. This was when she stormed into the Daily Nation offices where she staged a protest for a whopping 5 hours and accused the Nation of printing lies. A story that captured worldwide headlines with publications like the Guardian, Gulf News and BBC running with the story.
4. Mama Lucy will be remembered for being no-nonsense as during her Daily Nation protest , she was accused of assaulting Clifford Derrick a camera man who she slapped after she caught him filming her during her Daily Nation storm-in.
5. Aside from Derrick, she allegedly once slapped lawyer and politician Gitobu Imanyara at State House and also smacked an MC during a Jamhuri Day’s State House ceremony. The presiding MC earned the slap for referring to Lucy Kibaki as Lucy Wambui instead of Lucy Muthoni.
6. She will also be remembered for keeping it 100% ,if she didn’t like you she would let you know, case in point when she publicly snubbed the State House Comptroller as the President's family returned to Nairobi after a holiday at the Coast. She gave everyone a warm handshake before snubbing Matere.
7. Away from the controversial incidents Lucy will be remembered for helping the disadvantaged and disabled through various charity works.
8. Her students will remember her for imparting knowledge to them at Kambui girls among other schools and as the patron of the Kenya Girl Guides Association.
9. Her fashion sense will certainly be memorable.Check out this smashing outfit she donned back in her hey days:
