Atleast 140 youths were arrested Thursday evening at Phenom estate in Nairobi's Lang'ata area after they were found engaging in a drinking spree.
Police dispatched three lorries to apprehend the youths aged between 14 and 20 following a tip-off from the estate's security.
Lang'ata OCPD Elijah Mwangi told The Star on phone that police were called after noises where heard coming from a house in the estate.
Mwangi added that there was no evidence of the youths engaging in sex although he could not rule it out.
"Their lawyers are here with their parents, but police have already started investigations," Mwangi said.
Head of security at the estate Omollo Okello however told The Star that the youths numbered close to 150 and are aged between 13 and 17.
Police released the youths to their parents with a directive to appear at the station on Monday for further direction.
The owner of the house, a Sudanese lady, was also taken into custody.
The arrests come days after 15 matatus were impounded in Yatta, Machakos county on Sunday, when police allegedly found students engaging in sex while drunk.
An accident forced the convoy of matatus to stop, raising suspicion from police about the noise from the vehicles.
“When the police arrived at the scene of the accident they realised the students were half naked and intoxicated,” said Kenya Film Classification Board CEO Ezekiel Mutua.
An event organiser in Yatta has since denied the reports saying the students were headed for a road trip and not a sex party.
Focus has been keenly on large groupings of minors and teens after news of a planned party dubbed 'Project X' surfaced on several social media platforms.
The party slated for March 12, at an undisclosed location in Nairobi’s plush Kileleshwa estate, held promise of a event where anything will be allowed.
“8 Days to go to the biggest celebration of bad behavior in the +254... Chiqs... Dudes... and a whole lot of booze...no rules...no regulations...everything goes," a post on social media read.
"...carry your own high... Whether it's herbs... Pills...everything is legal advance tickets are almost sold out!! Get the few remaining at selbected outlets [sic],” a thread on messaging application Whatsapp read.
Police warned the unknown planners of the party that any illegalities committed will be dealt with according to the law
